Tactile comfort wall

Warhol Room

Quiet does not exist. There are only gradients of ambient sound, which we can become comfortable with if given the spatial opportunity to do so.

Timbre worked with Next World Capital to analyze the acoustics of their conference room. We took decibel readings with and without people in the room. We also did troubleshooting of the HVAC system to help isolate those sounds as well. We developed a felt wall system that carried up the wall and onto the ceiling, increasing in depth at locations where direct sound reflections were most acute.

Felt is comfortable to touch and does well to absorb sound. Moreover, the material is "acoustically transparent" meaning that even more effective sound absorbing material can be placed behind the felt to capture a wider range of frequencies.
